Preethi Chandran, M.Sc., Ph.D – Founding Director
Preethi Chandran is a biotechnology scientist with a Ph.D. specializing in CRISPR-Cas technology, molecular microbiology, and microbial engineering. She has hands-on expertise in utilizing CRISPR-Cas9 and CRISPR-dCas9 systems for targeted genetic modulation, microbial strain optimization, and sustainable bioprocess design.

Udhayaram Maharajan, DME – Founding Director
With 12 years of service in the merchant navy, Udhayaram Maharajan brings a unique perspective to biotechnology, driven by his deep commitment to marine sustainability. His exposure to global trade and environmental challenges at sea inspired his mission to protect ecosystems through Eco-friendly technologies.

Our Founder Story:
Iniya Bioprobes was born out of a shared vision between Preethi Chandran and Udhayaram Maharajan to create sustainable biotechnology solutions for the future. With her expertise in CRISPR technology, molecular microbiology, and microbial engineering, Preethi envisioned a way to revolutionize pigment production using advanced genome editing and sustainable bioprocessing.
Meanwhile, Udhayaram’s 12 years at sea in the merchant navy gave him firsthand exposure to the urgent need for marine conservation and pollution-free solutions. His commitment to protecting ecosystems complemented Preethi’s scientific innovation, forming a powerful synergy of vision and action.
Together, they founded Iniya Bioprobes Private Limited in 2023 with the mission to combine cutting-edge biotechnology and environmental sustainability. Their journey quickly gained recognition, with the startup registering under Startup India and Startup Karnataka, incubating at BIRAC-BioNEST CFTRI Mysore, and emerging as a Winner of ELEVATE 2024.
